For the moment winter is in abeyance and spring weather abounds. During this advance on more summery weather crew of PRIDE have turned-to with focus to the myriad things required doing to ready PRIDE for the 2014 sailing season.
The photos represent only a small portion of today’s activity. There are four crew aloft attending to attaching the main gaff-topsail and sorting out the lightning ground wires running down to water from the tip-tops of the topmasts. Meanwhile other crew are attending to daily domestic cleaning that occurs down below as well food preparation. One of the mates is gathering up details for purchasing to get PRIDE’s maintenance supplies stocked. The engineer continues to trace systems and ensure all are in the status we want them to be.
A complicated vessel takes a lot of time to make ready for sailing operations after a winter disassembled for maintenance. This crew started March 3rd. PRIDE won’t be ready till late April – after dry-docking – currently delayed some days due to weather related delays of vessels ahead of PRIDE.
