early afternoon yesterday
PRIDE has been sailing since yesterday early afternoon. Started after exiting Cape Cod Canal into Cape Cod Bay around 1300 EDT. She is now, the next day at 1100 EDT, 133 nautical miles sailed toward Nova Scotia. Just past midway across the Gulf of Maine.
The sailing with almost all sail started out pretty fast, around 7-8 knots. Things slowed down as evening approached. Wind has been very light since before dawn. But still making way. Hard to forecast if it is likely will sail all the way. Seems there is agreement among four computer weather forecast models (ECMWF, GFS, NAM & ICON) for light south-southwest winds the rest of this week.
There was a brief sighting of whales this morning. Too brief to photograph. Seems could have been Finback or Minke. Maybe 20+ feet long.
Life aboard is easing from novelty to relaxed. Certainly moderated sea state with light winds helps. But time aboard contributes as well.
